Goal
Create a logo mark for Lakewood Ranch’s new future-focused biotech campus, in Bradenton, Florida. The future campus will include:
- Life Science and Healthcare companies
- Conference center, hotel and residential multi-family residential development
- Pedestrian-friendly setting with recreational spaces
- The preservation of wetlands
Context
The marketing team was stuck on the idea of the LITES campus, and creating an acronym that encompassed all their ideas about Learning, Innovation, Technology, Education and Science. The poor spelling was turning off shareholders and they approached me to brainstorm a logo, and possibly a new name for the campus. The new logo would be key to the site’s identity and lead to recruitment for the new campus.
Solution
The final solution, CORE “Collaboration Opportunities for Research and Exploration”, combined many of the original ideas of what the future-focused campus would be. Lakewood Ranch wanted company leaders and developers to see this campus as a center for technology, research and health science.
The cattail motif was used to represent the wetlands area and bring context to the location.
